Still listening
04:15
|
|
||
Good to see ya how ya been
your show's started by now .. I think I'll settle in
no hesitation since ..
you're stuck in high and now my interest is thin
continue on .. let me hear the part
conviction strong .. win all race you start
step closer to me .. make sure I can see
you're the authority for any task .. I'm listening
Tell me about your troubles .. and all the things that irritate you
I'm looking forward I can't wait to
hear all about .. your chips and how .. your shoulders are breaking
coz my life lacks the joy and thrill .. of your grievances
when listening is a skill .. words are hazardous
loud mouthed and iron willed .. a dim simplicity
dictates that I'm still .. still listening
Well I've been here to long .. the conversation peaked
when you almost choked on your drink
well I've been here to long .. listening to you dribble on
I'm listening .. so please go on
Well I've been here to long .. catching bullshit that you've thrown
I'm listening .. so please go on

All the better
02:43
|
|||
Raise your glass and sing salute
the days and times .. we hold onto
we remember the good times and learn from the bad
we engineer our own views
everybody we will meet .. every new day that we greet
plays part of our personal reality
the more good ones that we keep
the more bullshit we can defeat
and all the better .. we will be
Find your tempo and your tune
make yourself comfortable .. enjoy the view
but take care of this place
hold and safeguard your faith
for the next tenant to use
when eventually faced .. with a retrospective taste
will ya stand for .. the values that you see
when humility and grace outweigh material gain
all the better we will be .. all the better we will be

Your point of view
02:28
|
|
||
In speculations name .. we lay our own unrest
consume the game .. fixate on the bleak and forget about the rest
count on your place .. know what's yours .. reclaim
the right to an opinion of your own
while the obedient wait .. the status quo remains ..
the docile mass relent .. and minority reigns
Trends are all the same .. a few start off the rest
impersonate .. those who have the loudest voice and influential sway
decide your way and retake .. your say
directions easily change
stand together hold to blame .. the masters of the day
voice your reason .. your way .. and shape the world today
And we'll walk to the same beat
through the parks and down our streets
united by the vast array
everybody gets a name .. lives life and passes away
so feel free to display .. your point of view

What if we should be
02:33
|
|
||
What if we should see .. wasn't necessarily reality
the sky was in the sea ..
and the sea was in the sky where the sun should be
Funny little world in my mixed up brain
drinking too much piss .. getting fried again
weekend's coming up in a couple of days
I'm gonna get fucked up .. in so many ways
What if we should see .. wasn't necessarily reality
the sky was in the sea ..
and the sea was in the sky where the sun should be come on
I rock up to my mates and there's powder on the table
but my nose is so damn clogged and I don't know if I'm able
to have another bump so I leave a line for later
give the boys a fuckin wink .. and say g'day to Nater
but Nater's sitting in the shed a cracky in his hand
talking way too fast .. and I can't understand him
What if we should see .. wasn't necessarily reality
the sky was in the sea ..
and the sea was in the sky where the sun should be come on
I rock up to the pub .. left my mates behind
smoked a couple of cones coz I thought I'd unwind
sexy in the corner in peripheral view
didn't need to speak to tell me what to do
bouncer drags me out throws me down the stairs
and I'm so fucking munted .. and I don't care
What if we should see .. wasn't necessarily reality
the sky was in the sea ..
and the sea was in the sky where the sun should fucking be

The state of play
02:51
|
|
||
The state of play that we see
isn't always the way it seems
past begrudge politic .. a cancer not a feat
ambitious cuts most often bled
in between faction views and selfish needs
a quiet place where we agree
a quiet place where we agree
You gave so much to the machine
even what wasn't yours to give
now that the engine seized .. your throwing wrenches in
state of play falls apart again
Now that the engine seized .. your throwing wrenches in
state of play falls apart again
state of play falls apart again

Sing summer
03:06
|
|
||
Feeling the cold of winter .. surrounding me
and it feels like every year .. it brings a tinge of misery
there's a burden faced by me .. and I don't think I'm alone
coz I'm a season refugee .. and I wanna go home
Dealing in gold and broken dreams .. throughout the colder months
tax a toll on me .. vexatious litigant
I've a weather allergy .. but I don't cough or sniff or sneeze
coz it's a sun deficiency .. and there's only one treatment
Sing summer sun .. to me
take your place and warm my memories
winter's six long months away .. so lets go have some fun
summer sun won't you please .. sing to me
Sing summer sun .. to me
take your place and warm my memories
winter's six long months away .. so lets go have some fun
summer sun won't you please .. sing to me

To buy Dubai
01:29
|
|
||
Four months in the sand .. home sickness and webcams
an invitation half thought out .. arrives home from John Hand
says honey won't you stay .. a month in the Emirates
the sun is warm you'll like my place and the shopping is first rate
now understand this man .. departed his home land
to take a job and work real hard .. to fill up his account
now with Leanne around .. the days have a sweeter sound
the credit card's seen better days .. since she arrived in town
She's waiting at the airport with a vision and a plan
coz my mum's on her way to buy Dubai
my mum's on her way to buy Dubai

The bottom of my heart
04:55
|
|
||
Begin again .. we'll write back to the end
when I say my intentions are sincere .. I'm for real
and I'm providing a best attempt .. a common dream
all too close to see .. when complaint outweighs a cause
we always have a choice .. part company now and I'll
Pack my stuff and make my way
sleep til lunchtime every day
and lay about .. with half an arse
and drink the night away
tell all my friends .. that it's been great
might as well make .. another round .. another plan
just another bad mistake
For what it's worth I didn't mean to start
something I could end so easily it held my heart
And every time we catch a glimpse of freedom we look the other way
whoa .. from the bottom of my heart
and if we scream then we can count on reason's point to resonate
whoa .. from the bottom of my heart
Begin again .. we're doing it all again
and when you say the shit you say .. it hurts my head
I'll walk away instead
bet on repeating .. the past but tail to head
a hypocrite once said
my hands are clean you are the cause
replay your wrongs put mine on pause
haven't we heard this before .. stop
Well pardon I didn't mean to ask
for something to offend so easily .. to break your heart
Begin again .. we're doing it all again
and when you say the shit you say .. it hurts my head
I'll walk away instead
bet on repeating .. the past but tail to head
a hypocrite once said
my hands are clean you are the cause
replay your wrongs put mine on pause
haven't we heard this before .. stop

C'mon everybody
02:22
|
|
||
Well c'mon everybody and let's get together tonight
I got some money in my jeans and I'm really gonna spend it right
well I've been doing my homework all week long
and now the house is empty and the folks are gone
c'mon everybody
Well my baby's number one but I'm gonna dance with three or four
and the house will be a shakin from the bare feet slapping on the floor
when you hear that music you can't sit still
your brother won't rock but your sister will
c'mon everybody
Well we'll really have a party but we gotta put a guard outside
if my folks come home I'm afraid they're gonna tan my hide ..
well there'll be no more movies for a week or two
no more hanging round with the usual crew
c'mon everybody

APathetic
01:49
|
|
||
It's nine o'clock and I'm still on my own
the distant ringing on the telephone
get the beer bong coz I'm ready to go
I think I'll make it maybe two in a row
let it go .. someone else wants to have a go .. let it go
Lying on the floor .. really made me think about it
not any more
days must go on .. and I don't even care anymore
don't give a fuck any more
When you're lying on the floor
you won't think about it any more
when you're lying on the floor

A lucky rat
04:18
|
|
||
Back in June 1940 so history books say
a young suburban fellow named Ronald Wade
raised up his hand and enlisted his name
to fight the good fight of the day
the battalion moved north training next on the course
Wangaratta proud to call them their own
and they moved on together .. to camp Bonegilla
while the Strathmore was waiting at bay
The battalion embarked and sailed off on their way
bound for Tobruk, Guinea and El Alemain
and the souls of these brave men were never the same
as they carried the wounded and slain
and as shells pounded down with death felt all around
young Ronald's demeanour retained
and with drinks all around those boys painted the town
just to celebrate waking that day
And the rats wouldn't stray they kept fighting
and their spirits march on to this day
with the enemy scared every rat was prepared
to lay his life down for a mate
The men charged on forward as battlefields raged
Rommel was stunned as they dug in again
they fought side by side but their fate was unchanged
their chances were slipping away
and the enemy's tanks blew but one man to hell
our mate Rover never would tell
the story of how he survived on that day
as he watched eight comrades as they fell
And the feeling of being marched into that camp
was like being dragged down to hell
with a last swing of faith Ronald's chains were replaced
with a gruelling crawl to friendly faces
with a keener forehand and fine rhythm this man
made his way back to his homeland
though the telegram said our mate Rover was dead
here stood that tough little bastard
Cross the sea .. through the war
old mate is back on our shores
things they'd seen .. fights they'd fought
Rover out-roved the war
And the rats wouldn't stray they kept fighting
and their spirits march on to this day
now the good fight was won all those brave men were sung
as the heroes that helped save Australia
